PUsensor is based on research regarding pressure ulcers at Linköping University. Pressure ulcers cause both great suffering and substantial costs in healthcare. PUsensor is developing a device to assess the risk of a patient developing pressure ulcers. For at-risk patients, preventive measures can be implemented early, before the patient develops pressure ulcers, thereby reducing both suffering and costs.
The company has developed and, together with healthcare providers, tested a prototype of a blood flow meter that can determine the risk of developing pressure ulcers. The results from the tests have been positive, and the company is therefore raising capital to industrialize and CE-mark the product.
Pressure ulcers are common across large parts of the healthcare sector, not just in hospital care. Up to one in six hospitalized patients currently suffers from pressure ulcers, which creates great suffering and requires significant healthcare resources. The market consists of both public and private healthcare providers, such as hospitals and nursing homes.
