The company was founded by LiU and KTH alumni who leveraged early research findings on plants’ ultrasound-based communication and built proprietary IP around hardware, software, data, and algorithms. Agtech Sweden, hosted by Linköping University, has provided early support to the project that has now become the company SonicFlora.

— I have followed SonicFlora as a project at LEAD and have been impressed by the founders’ ability to complement each other and make the pieces of technology, customer interest, and financing fall into place. It will now be interesting to follow and contribute to the company as an owner, says Stefan Asplund, Investment Manager at LiU Invest.

The company has raised a total of 2.7 million SEK in a funding round led by Almi Invest, with LiU Invest contributing 500,000 SEK.

— SonicFlora is about more than technology. It’s about giving growers a deeper understanding of their plants than ever before. With Almi Invest, LiU Invest, and our business angels, we gain both capital and expertise to further develop the technology, conduct pilot tests, and move towards the market, says Robin Jansson, CEO and co-founder of SonicFlora.
