Polar Light Technologies has developed a patented microLED technology that generates red, green, and blue light from the same material compound, without the compromises required by competing solutions. In December 2024, the company achieved a technical breakthrough with red emission at 625 nm, laying the foundation for monolithic RGB displays. The technology has already garnered significant interest from future customers and investors, and the company has now completed a funding round of 34.4 million SEK.

Participating investors included Stoaf SciTech, Almi Invest, Sustainable Energy Angels, Butterfly Ventures, and LiU Invest. J2L Holding joined as a new investor, and Bo Eklöf, owner of Stadium, invested privately. The capital now enables accelerated commercialization with a planned market launch in 2026.

LiU Invest recognized the potential of the technology as early as the first technical breakthrough and has since actively contributed capital and strategic support.

“We have been involved since the start and have seen the company take great strides forward in recent years, not least thanks to excellent financial backing from business angels and VC firms. I am very pleased that we can defend our ownership stake by investing in this round,” says Stefan Asplund, Investment Manager at LiU Invest.

Polar Light Technologies originated from research at Linköping University.
