Sam Issa and his company, Nano Textile Solutions, won the 2022 SKAPA Award. The company has developed a textile woven with heat-shrinkable polymer material and conductive material, allowing an electric current to pass through the fabric to change its size. Although the idea was Sam’s own, the company received support during development from researchers at IFM, the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology at Linköping University.

The first application is a riding boot, for which the company already has a customer.

The investment is being made in collaboration with the University of Borås, and the company is a member of the Borås Ink incubator. Based in central Borås, the incubator operates within a cluster of companies, research institutes, educational institutions, and business organizations with the shared vision of being Europe’s leading science park for textiles and fashion.

LiU Invest and University of Borås Holding are together investing half a million, and additional investors will also participate in the ongoing round.
